I enjoy hearing interesting speakers and expanding what I know of the design field. Though I do find it hard to mix with people at the meetings themselves if I did not know of the people already. I think DSVC is a great learning resource.

I enjoy the speakers, both the giants in the field that I used to see when I first started going and the up and comers that I haven't heard of before. But I miss the way the club used to be. I grew up when companies still had employee picnics, but since most studios are so small, things like the Year End Crawlfish Boil and the Chili Cookoff (which wasn't an actual DSVC event but is certainly should have been) brought back that feeling of community. I miss the DSVC Art Auction and Bill Ford's DSVC Ski Trip always looked like a blast. I miss Data Blitz before the speaker and even the Hot Dog of the Month. Heck I even miss getting a poster and an issue of ROUGH in the mail each month (I can't remember the last poster and ROUGH seems hit or miss).

If you want to improve the DSVC experience looking forward, maybe you should take a look backward.

Thank you for the feedback, Dave.

We are always looking for good ideas, and people who can help make those ideas come to life. If you are interested contact us and we would be happy to talk about how you could help us possibly bring back an event or two you enjoyed.

Another great community event is the DSVC Professional Show. It is this Saturday and tickets are still on sale, so if you want to mingle with some of your peers, this would be a great place to do it. It will also give you an opportunity to see some of the best work that was produced locally over the last year.

I would like to see more events for the new and upcoming members of the design community, the recently graduated or the just starting out. It is hard out there when your just beginning a business or a career and are looking for connections, more get togethers that are laid back and easy to mingle that would encourage senior members to seek out the new members and bestow a little of their wisdom. An event where name tags would identify companies and names, when your new you don't always know what face goes with what name. :P

I would like to understand how multi-media can help communicate technical content to users of personal devices, printers, software, applications, and other Information Technology tools. For instance, I see many companies using Captivate to show end users and technicians how repairs or procedures whould be done. Also there is a lot of interest in the optimum training mediums from online, instructor led, mentor available to classic offsite classroom. What can you organization present as best practices?

    Looking for work... wait...

I am looking to grow my network of peers and learn from them. One of the things the DSVC has done for me, and I hope they'll continue to do is: help focus on the creative community and help the creative community grow.

I would like to see the DSVC open a sub-chapter, to be more convenient to Denton. Maybe then, I could catch a working lunch, or more of the regular monthly events!
