A native Dallasite, Steve Pietzsch moved to Austin in 1993 to embark on a new career doing 2D and 3D artwork for computer games after a nearly 20-year freelance career creating editorial works for Rolling Stone, Omni, and Texas Monthly magazines, as well as illustrating for a wide variety of commercial clients.

A lot has happened in the intervening years, not the least of which was the launch by Steve's current company, Certain Affinity, of two downloadable multiplayer only "Blastacular Maps" for Halo2 -- an event that effectively cemented their reputation as a game developer.

Come hear Steve talk about it all, including what it takes to be an "environment" artist, at our October meeting, Wednesday, Oct. 3.
