Production Artist

Reporting directly to the Production Manager and working closely with a dynamic production and design team, you will play a key role in the continued development of marketing efforts and results. We are looking for someone who can provide immediate expertise and a willingness to grow with this organization.

We are seeking a hands on Production Artist (THIS IS NOT A DESIGN POSITION)  to work within a Publishing Production team to create, produce, refine and correct magazine and related materials.  You will work within existing processes and contribute to further improvements in processes to increase efficiency and an error-free product.  

• Create layout for profiles and articles
• Provide Photoshop adjustment, color adjustment, manipulation, etc
• Provide typesetting of editorial text changes, corrections and revisions
• Generate PDF low res for customers and Managing Editors
• Create electronic file using distiller and Pitstop
• Upload approved final PDF to Printing bureaus or FTP sites
• Ability to work directly with internal staff
• Must be detailed oriented, fast and extremely well organized.
• Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task on projects, communicate with non-production types.
• Macintosh environment including but not limited to: In Design, Quark, and Illustrator. Advanced Photoshop skills with retouching expertise necessary.
• Must have an eye for detail/design and layout
• Must have good understanding of typography
• No travel currently but may need to attend press checks in future

4+ years experience in Production.  CS5 preferred.  Need to be a highly motivated individual and MAGAZINE EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED.
